These are the monasteries of the hermits, the ones that bear not the name of an emperor or a dynasty, but that of a single man who withdrew into the rock to pray there until the end of his life.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00ab\u00a0The Mystic Trails of the Hermits\u00a0\u00bb follows their traces over eight days, through a Greece that the great circuits overlook. Each shrine here tells a whole life: that of a monk who chose a boulder, a cave or an impenetrable forest precisely because the world had no access there, and who ended up drawing, without ever having sought it, generations of pilgrims come to honour his memory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This pilgrimage cannot be driven to its end. At times the coach must stop, and travellers must lace up sturdy boots and continue on foot, along trails of a rugged, suspended beauty, exactly where the hermit himself once climbed, alone, when there was still no path at all. These walks are not a detour from the journey.
